The plot takes a dark turn when Gogol becomes obsessed with a beautiful and enigmatic woman, Katerina (played by Egor Barinov), who bears an uncanny resemblance to the heroine of his own story. As Gogol delves deeper into the world of Katerina, he discovers that she is, in fact, a victim of a dark and malevolent force, known as Viy.
