Durante began her career at a small magazine in Bilbao. Her big break came when she styled a cover story featuring a then-unknown model against the backdrop of a decommissioned fishing trawler. The juxtaposition of high fashion against the gritty, salt-worn textures of the boat caught the eye of a Parisian agency scout. The spread was republished internationally, and shortly after, she was invited to assist at Paris Fashion Week.
