Rorschach was born to a family of intellectuals. His father, Eduard Rorschach, was a schoolteacher, and his mother, Emma Aschenbrenner, was a homemaker. He was the youngest of three children, and his family moved frequently during his childhood, eventually settling in Zurich. Rorschach's interest in art and science was evident from an early age.
